How to plan a surprise beach proposal in the Riviera Maya

Surprise beach proposal with rose petals, Cancun

Working draft — copy pending Alisa’s review.

Proposing on a Riviera Maya beach is one of the most romantic things you can do — and one of the easiest to get wrong if you leave it to chance. Here is how I help clients pull it off so the only surprise is the ring.

Choosing the spot. Playa del Carmen, Tulum and the quieter coves north of Cancún each give a different mood — soft morning light, a dramatic sunset, or a private stretch with no crowds. I scout in advance and pick a place where I can work unseen.

Keeping the secret. We agree on a simple signal and a believable reason to be dressed nicely at golden hour. I arrive early, blend in with the other beachgoers, and you never have to point me out.

The setup. If you want it, I arrange a rose-petal heart, candles or a simple arch before you arrive — styled, not staged. Then I capture the whole thing as it happens: the walk up, the knee, the yes, the first embrace.

Afterwards. You get a private gallery the same day, so you can share the news the moment you are ready — and a full set of edited images soon after.
